Apple News Conference on iPhone 4 problems

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Apple will will a news conference tomorrow, Friday the 16th, 2010 regarding the iPhone 4 antenna problems.

We can only speculate on what they will say tomorrow, but as a new beta of the iOS4 came out yesterday, we can figure on a software update as well as perhaps some sort of plan for dealing with the physical nature of the problem.

Will they be giving out free bumper cases to everyone  who didnt purchase one (and a refund for those who did), or will it be more drastic in the form of a product recall?

If I were a betting man (well, I am), I’d go with the former. I would think it’s a more cost-effective solution to give out a rubber case which probably costs them pennies to make (though they sell for $30), than to do a product recall that would run into millions of dollars for hardware fixes.

While I’m sure the hardware is being re-worked for new models coming out of the factory, they still have a problem to fix with the current user base and those who buy the phone until the new manufacturing process is complete.

Let’s hope that they don’t try to sweep the issue under the rug again. We can see how well that worked at the start of this fiasco.
